In the new Rolling Stone Playlist Issue, Dave Grohl says he was “lucky enough to grow up in Washington, D.C., and see some of the greatest hardcore-punk shows ever.” Fortunately for his fans, those early years were influential: “I thought my destiny was to work at a furniture warehouse, but then I saw hardcore bands and I realized, “I can do this! I don’t even have to be good at playing my instrument!’” he says.
